Number of sections:  Three USCF rated

Format/Rounds:  3 round Swiss System

Time Control:  G/61+5 second delay. Digital clocks only.

Sections:  Gold: 1700 and over
Silver: 1200 - 1699
Bronze: Under 1200 and Unrated

Playing Up:  1600 - 1699 may play up to Gold.
1100 - 1199 may play up to Silver.
Published USCF Regular Rating determines eligibility.
Unrated players will be placed at TD discretion.

Maine South High School Students who complete all three games: $5 (Pay $10 online, $5 refunded at the tournament after the last round.)

Advance entries will close at 8:00 p.m. the night before the tournament.

Registration at Site and Check-in:  From 9:00-9:30

Check-In: Players must check in by 9:30 am; players who arrive late will receive a half-point bye for the first round or be paired with another late arrival. Pre-registered players who do not arrive by the end of Round 1 will be withdrawn.

On-Site Entry: On-site entries are $15 for any player and are taken on an as-available, first-come, first-serve basis starting at 9:00 a.m. Cash or credit cards, no checks.

Withdrawals/Refunds:  Our policy is that withdrawals will be refunded if made in advance of the tournament or in person at the tournament registration. No refunds are available for withdrawals after the start of the event.

Rounds:  9:45, 12:30, 2:45. The last few games of the event should conclude around 5:00-ish.

Prizes:  Fun chess in a friendly environment.

Food:  We are now also serving a range of Keurig coffees! Concessions available on site. Fast food and other restaurants a 5 minute drive away.

We may pay titled players to play in our events. We usually do not pair them against each other. Even if they should lose (it does happen) we may pair them with the highest score groups.

Byes:  One half point in any round but the last.

Juniors under age 14:  Junior players (under fourteen years) are welcome if accompanied by an adult. We do not accept unaccompanied junior players. Please indicate on your entry or by email the name and relationship of an adult accompanying a junior player. No more than 4 junior players per accompanying adult.

Other information:  Bring sets, limited number provided. Bring digital clocks only. Wheelchair accessible. No Smoking. Most tables have bench seating.
