Lozano Branch Tournament Fills CPS Void Friday

With 340,000 Chicago Public School students impacted by a one-day teacher's strike, the Lozano Branch of the Chicago Public Libray has stepped up to offer a FREE chess tournament Friday, April 1.

One does not need to be a CPS student to play... but it is a scholastic event aimed at K-12 students. Home schoolers -- and suburbanites on spring break -- are welcome.

Onsite registration -- again free -- begins at 12:30 with play slated to begin at 1pm and ending by 5pm. There should be five rounds of competitive play.

The Lozano Branch of the Chicago Public Library is at 1805 South Loomis in the Pilsen neighborhood, west of the Chicago loop.
