Second Annual DuPage County Chess Championship

The 2nd annual DuPage County Chess Championship was even more successful than the first. On December 29th, over 120 players in the rated and unrated sections gathered at Benedictine University to participate in the event run by Elite Chess. The field was larger and stronger than last year, with participants from both Illinois and Wisconsin. The Championship Section was especially strong with an average rating of just over 1820. In the end, Bennett Joseph was able to fight his way to a clear first place finish with 3.5 out of 4. He earned the right to have his name engraved on the coveted cup and will hopefully defend his title next year. The Bughouse side event was won by the team of Nate Olejnik (left) and Charles (Zack) Coffman (right). Email Jeff DiOrio at elite This email address is being protected from spambots.
