IM Maksimovic 18-0 at Glenwood Simul

On July 16th, The Glenwood Chess Club was proud to host International Master Dejan "Maks" Maksimovic, who has recently returned to the Chicago area from Europe.

"Maks", an IM with a FIDE rating of 2432 (and a GM norm), warmly greeted the members of the club, and after some introductory remarks from Glenwood CC President Ken Windmon, proceeded to take on 18 club members in a simultaneous exhibition.

Moving from board to board, Maks introduced himself to each player with a handshake, and the battles were on!

A few of the younger players fell early, leaving the stronger players to duke it out.  Maks played creatively and actively, and encountered stiff resistance on several boards.  It took over four hours, but Max spent some time on the critical positions, and exhibited excellent technique to overcome all obstacles and pull off an 18-0 score.

Afterwards, Max took some time to praise the participants and discuss a few of the games with the players.  All the members enjoyed the spectacle (including a number who came to watch), and we hope to see Maks again soon!
