George Li Tops Evanston November Tri-Level

With three wins and a draw, top-rated George Li won the 18-entrant Gold Section at the November 14 Evanston Tri-Level.

George's lone blemish was a fourth round draw against Zachary Holecek. Expert Daniel Bronfeyn and Class B-player George Fu tied for second with 3.0/4 tallies.

Maret Thorpe directed the three-section event at the Levy Center. US Chess Crosstables have been posted.

In the 16-player Silver section, Ryan Chimienti bolstered his provisional rating 74 points with three wins and a fourth-round full-point bye to finish 4.0. With his fourth-round cross-section pairing, Ryan defeated a Class B-player to further up his rating a total of 99 points on the day.

Slawomir Borkowski took second place in the Silver with a 3.5/4 tally, drawing in the second round.

In the Under 1200 Bronze Section, Adithya Kuchibhotla played rated chess for the first time, winning the first three matches to compile a 1707 provisional rating after three games. Manduul Tsetsegmaa posted two wins and a draw to post a 3.5 score with a fourth round full-point bye. 17 competed in the section.

Adithya defeated a Class D-player in her fourth-round cross-section pairing to bring the US Chess record to four for four.
