246 competed in four sections at the January 30 Glenn Scholastic organized by Bloomington Normal Area Scholastic Chess.

Five players tied atop the Junior High Section.  Jacob Davis, Mukundan Raghav, Nihar Mothikuru, Lineeth Sareddy and Joseph Suh all posted 3.5's out of four.

Davis and Raghav drew in the final round while Suh and Mothikuru drew in the second round. Sareddy opened the tournament with a draw against Marcus Lee who finished with 2.5. 52 competed in the section. 

Ratings bursts were seen in the 3.0 score group from Vishnu Venkatachalam and Austin Schillage. Visnhu went up 197 points while Austin raised his rating 190 points to 964. Ceclilia Blumberg went up 199 points with her 2.5 performance.

In the 60-player Elementary section Anusha Nadkarni and Bruce Tang both posted 4.5/5.0. Bruce's rating crossed 1000, up 121 to 1060.

A four-way tie for third included Ved Kommalapati, Anish Deshpande, Rahul Bhavan and Shlok Kinikar, all with 4.0's/5.

Sadkrith Malladi posted the lone perfect score in the Upper Primary section, raising the rating 174 points to 959. Srithan Yella placed second with a 4.5 result, also going up over 100 rating points. 82 participated in the section.

Lower Primary competition saw two perfect scores. Mohit Bayyarapu and Rajeeth Ganesan both posted 5.0's. Rajeeth's rating went up 211 to 640.

Three players tied for third place including Arul Shegaonkar, Pragyan Misra and Kavya Huette. Kavya's rating rose 177 points to 472.
