Rockford Chess's First Rated Event ... in a While

Rockford Chess had its first rated event in many years. Joe Guth organized the event and Gary Sargent was the official TD.
Joe decided that it is about time to have Adult Only events. He suggested it a few times around the tournament circuit. Others with the same idea have had events over the last two years, including the Chicago Senior Open.
Joe said, "We had a fun tournament with ten 'Manly Warriors' showing up. We have another event coming up on September 15th. Pencil it in on your calender. Better yet, scratch it in with a knife and make plans to be here."
The winner was Patrick Lacey who is no stranger to winning prizes in Rockford. In his youth, Patrick did quite well at the Northern Illinois Junior Open (NIJO).
Prize Fund winners include: Patrick Lacey [First Place, Open], David Black [First Prize, C], Jonathan Gaenzle [Tied for First, D, E, Unr], and Clifford Adams [Tied for First, D, E, Unr].
David Black added 80 points to his rating. Jonathan Gaenzle added 59 points to his rating. Clifford Adams added 74 points to his rating.
