Ice Harbor Scholastic Open

A two-day regional scholastic chess tournament held in the Dubuque Grand River Center Exhibit Hall.  Seven Scholastic Sections: Two Friends and Family Sections, Friday Night Blitz Chess (3 sections) and Saturday Bughouse (2 sections).  Stay at the connecting Grand Harbor Resort and Water Park. Chess rate includes passes to the water park.  Dubuque, Iowa, is located on the Mississippi River at the Iowa-Wisconsin-Illinois border, 90 miles from Rockford, 150 miles from Schaumburg, and 200 miles from Bloomington.  Visit www.iceharborchess.com for event details and area amenities.

Main Event: 6 Rated Sections and 1 Non-Rated Section.  Over 100 Individual Awards Trophies 50 Team Plaques. Chess clubs may form teams in accordance within USCF scholastic regulations.  Friday Night Blitz Chess (K-12 & K-6 sections and 24 trophies), Saturday Afternoon Bughouse Reserve (U1200, U800 and K-3 section) and Saturday Night Bughouse Open (All-Ages and 36 trophies).  Friends and Family, rated and non-rated sections.

Sections: USCF Rated: Master/Expert (FIDE Rated, K-12): 4 Rds, G/90 +30 inc, K-12 Open: 5 Rds, G/75 d5, K-12 U1200: 6 Rds, G/45 d5, K-6 Open: 5 Rds, G/75 d5, K-6 U800: 6 Rds, G/45 d5, K-3 Open: 6 Rds, G/45 d5. Non-Rated: Grades K-6: 6 Rds G/45 d5. Friends and Family:  Rated and Non-Rated Sections, both 4 Rds, G/60 d5.  All sections use 5 second delay.

Schedule: On-Site Registration; 5/18 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm,  5/19 8:00 am – 9:30 am. M/X FIDE: 4 Rds: Sat 10, 3 Sun 9 & 2. K-12 Open and K-6 Open, 5 Rounds: Sat: 10-1:30-4:30, Sun: 9-12:30. K-12 U1200, K-6 U800, K-3 Open and Nonrated K-6, 6 Rounds Sat: 10-12:30-2:30. Sun: 9-11-1:30. Blitz Chess: Fri 7:00 -10 pm Bughouse Reserve: Saturday: 3:30 – 6:30. Bughouse Open: Sat: 7:30 – 10:30 pm. Friends and Family: Sat: 1:30-4:30, Sun 9 – 1.

Awards: Over 100 Total Individual Trophies & 50 Team Awards! Master/Expert Section: Awards for 1^st – 6^th Place: K-12 Open Section: Top 10 individual trophies for top overall scores and six trophies based on rating (e.g. class trophies). K-6 Open, K-3 Open, K-12 U1200, and K-6 U800 Section: Top 6 individual trophies for top overall scores and six trophies based on rating (e.g. class prizes) in each section. K-6 Non-Rated Section: Trophies to top 5 scores overall and top score in each grade (one trophy per player).  Additional Awards: Plaques for each player on Top 3 Teams of each section (school or club).  Top Pairs (players may be from different section):  Top 3 Boy/Girl Team, Top 3 Parent/Sibling.  Must register teams by 2 pm Saturday.

Entry Fee: $50 if received by 3/31, $55 by 4/30, $60 after 4/30, $70 on site. Blitz, Bughouse, Friends and Family = $10 per player, advanced or on-site.  USCF Membership required for rated sections, available on site.
