Jim Nguyen and Dylan McDonough tied for first place at the April 2017 Highland Park event,  both with 4.5/5 in the Advanced Section. Thanks to the slightly higher tiebreak, Bateman's Nguyen earned the championship trophy.

Julian Wang posted 4.0/5 to earn third place honors out of 17 participants in the Advanced, one of four sections of competition.

In the Fourth through Eighth Grade section, Adrian Onofre scored the lone 5-for-5 result to win clear first place.

Declan McDonough, Matthew Paraboschi and Peter Thompson all tallied 4.0's to tie for second place with McDonough earning the higher tiebreak, nabbing second place hardware.

30 competed in the section.

Out of 19 players in the Grades 2-3 section, Truman Evans was a perfect five for five, while three players tied for second with 4.0/5. In tiebreak order that was Alan Khesin, Brian Farkas and Henry Gamson.

A dozen K-1 players faced off in the fourth section, with Saruul Uuganbayar nabbing first place with five points, followed by Hili Bareket with 4.0, finishing in second.

The Highland Park tournament combines team scores across sections, giving ITEP the top team prize with 24.5 points from their top six players.

Burbank placed second with 21.0 from their top six.
