Iowa Rated Beginner Open (RBO)

Illinois players get $5 discounts!

Open to U1200 or Unrated. US Chess Federation (USCF) membership required.  

Five rounds, no-elimination. Time control: Game/30 with 5-second delay.

Location: Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, 300 E 9th St.  (I-80, SE side of Exit 242), Coralville, IA 52241. 

Registration:  8:30 am to 10 am, Saturday (8/27)

Rounds: 10:30, 12, 1:30 and ASAP 

Entry Fee: $21 if postmarked before 8/22 $30 on site. $5 less for out of staters. 

Prize Info: Trophies top 5 overall, U 1000, U800, U600, U400 and Unrated 1st and 2nd.

This is a one-day tournament but for those wishing accommodations The Marriott Hotel and Conference Center has a heavily-discounted chess rate available of $112 -- including parking (but not including taxes). Pool, restaurant, more restaurants in walking distance. 319-688- 4000.

Coralville is about one hour west of the Mississippi River, a few miles from the University of Iowa campus.

The Chief TD for the RBO will be Illinois' Bill Feldman, a US Chess Senior TD.
